BJP’s First List For Delhi Assembly Elections, 29 Candidate List Has Been Release
BJP’s First list for Delhi Assembly elections, 29 Candidate list has been release
Earlier in this month, the Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP came up with its first list of candidates of 29 for the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled in February next year. Key highlights from the list include:
The AAP released its first list of candidates where for New Delhi parliamentary constituency the AAP chief and the former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal will be locked in a direct fight with Parvesh Verma, a former MP from West Delhi.
Ex MP from South Delhi, Ramesh Bidhuri has been named by the BJP to take on AAP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Atishi in Kalkaji.
Kailash Gahlot, an AAP veteran minister, is BJP’s Bijwasan candidate, which has shifted him away from his prior Najafgarh.
Lovely Arvinder Singh, former Delhi Congress chief was chosen by the BJP to be in the list, despite no takers for his services of being a two-term MLA of Gandhi Nagar, Anil Bajpayee has been dropped out this time.
This shows that these selections are perhaps a systematic effort by BJP to disrupt main AAP characters and re strategise its representation in important areas.
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was expected to announce the first list of its candidates for the Delhi Assembly polls due in 2025 in the last week of December. This delay, however, was attributed to a ‘lack of choices’ for some constituencies, sources in BJP said. It also contributed to the delay the on-going consultations within the party on who to present as a candidate.
Also, there were rumors that the Delhi unit of the BJP may have a new leadership soon. There was a suggestion that the party might elevate a new working president from a large community, perhaps an SC, ST, OBC so on and so forth before the list is prepared. This change of leadership was considered to have been brought about by political heat on Dr. BR Ambedkar during the recently concluded Winter Session of Parliament that there was much furore. The BJP’s action was interpreted as a bid to regain center of gravity in the light of upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
