Severe fog prevailed in Delhi on Sunday morning again hampering the flight and train operations in the national capital. Many flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport are late and several trains are behind schedule as well due to a poor visibility as a result of fog.

 

In a statement from Delhi Airport, the airport management confirmed that while operations are ongoing and CAT III compliant aircrafts may be affected flights landing and taking off around the airport. The general public has been encouraged to check with their respective carriers concerning the latest on their flights.

 

It is clear that flights that are not CAT III compliant may be affected despite the fact that there are constant landings and take offs at Delhi Airport. This is why passengers are encouraged to consult the various airlines for flight information. ”APology: Delhi Airport regrets any inconvenience caused,” the advisory posted on X read.

 

On Saturday there were 19 flight diversions at Delhi Airport several flights operations were cancelled and over 400 flights delayed due to poor visibility because of fog.

 

The National Capital continued to receive low temperatures and cold waves with the harsh winter conditions not going anywhere. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded a temperature of 10°C at 5:, was 10.2°C higher than the temperature at the same time, 30 AM on Sunday.

 

At the same time, the air quality was still in the ‘very poor’ category of the National Capital. Delhi’s AQI was reported to be 377 at 6 AM today by the Central Pollution Control Board.

 

Similar weather was reported in several North Indian states on Sunday morning with thick fog and cold wave conditions prevalent. In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the temperature was 11°C at 5:30 AM. At the same time, it was -1°C in Jammu and Kashmir’s capital city and 9.1°C in Chandigarh.
