Weather Update: The cold working is really biting now, with snow continuing to fall in the hills and snow on the plains as well. Also, there is an alert of rainfall for Delhi.

Delhi has had two days of fog, and it’s been the first Monday that has not been too foggy. But the Meteorological Department is saying today is going to be partly cloudy with light showers’. Here’s a brief look at the weather condition all over the country.

This avalanche calamity in the mountains is also affecting the plains. It is snowing on the higher parts of Kashmir and the bitter cold has gripped most of the North Indian regions. These warm and cold currents are becoming uncomfortable now because they are morning and evening breezes. Fog also occurs in many areas during the night and in the early morning most of the time. But fortunately, Delhi has received no fog today,  that is 6 January 2025. To this cold wave, schools have been directed to be closed in several district and lower class schools have been closed in Patna and Noida.

Delhi has received some respite today (Monday), after two days of foggy weather. But according to the Meteorological Department there will be light rain and mostly cloudy sky while the fog is supposed to be back tomorrow. There is also a small decrease in temperature. Looking at the IMD forecast for today the minimum temperature forecast is 11 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 18 degrees Celsius.

Cold Day For UP

The weather forecaster has warned of a cold day for Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, today. The weather forecast also depicts that temperatures will come down greatly with the lowest range probably around 11 degrees centigrade and the high range possibly not crossing 14 degrees centigrade. Tomorrow from Tuesday, there may be fog or mist in the morning with partly cloudy weather in the afternoon.

Snowfall on the Mountain

There is now snow in kashmir where many high altitude areas received heavy snow since last night making life difficult in some areas. Yesterday snow fell in Budgam, today areas in Kulgam, Bandipora and Gulmarg are covered with snow and today again snow will continue. The situation in Uttarakhand is also the same, especially in Auli where tourist rush has increased on slopes which are completely surrounded by snow.

Many parts of Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall till January 6. In some parts, there will be rain or snow fall.

The winter snow has however returned to Kashmir with many high altitude areas receiving heavy snow since yesterday which has inconvenienced some people. People in Budgam district reported snowfall last night while Kulgam, Bandipora and Gulmarg is having snow now more snowfall is expected today. The same is the case of Uttarakhand where there has been a large influx of tourists especially in Auli where the entire geography is snow clad.

Snow or rain is on the forecast for Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh for the next few days until 6 January. In some places, it is going to rain or snow a lot.
